After I uninstalled phocadownload, My site went down. Went to my home page and received a message that the page could not load because phocadownload could not be found. Even after removing any related menu links live or trashed.
How can I resolve this so that I can uninstall the component without is messing up my site.

Hi, did you remove the menu link?
Check if there is no plugin used in article e.g. (phoca download plugin)
Normally if the site is not liked to the phoca download component or to article where download plugin is used, then there is no any file which can run anything about phoca download
