Menu item not saved

After upgrading to PG 2.7.6, in Joomla! 1.5.22 Stable, I cannot any more add a PG menu item.
I select any of the four PG menu types, but Save or Apply commands make Joomla to return to general Menu Manager (instead of my Menu Item Manager), and the menu item is not saved.

A little bit confused!
From the suggested documentation, I understand that I could have problems ONLY if SEF is installed and enabled (yes, it is!) TOGETHER WITH other PG components (eg Phoca Download, Phoca Documentation). And this is not my case.

The context:

• - PG275 was installed, and has worked fine
  - after upgrading to PG276 I have this problem

So I have

• - uninstalled PG and removed all dirs
  - installed a new fresh PG276
  - but have the problem again...

and also

• - with a new fresh PG275
  - in a different test site

Also tried to

• - disable SEF
  install PG SEF component

Just to give more details:
PG Control Panel works fine, categories added, images added.
I have this (correct) choice in MenuItem
Phoca Gallery
*All Categories
oPhoca Gallery Category List Layout
*Category
oPhoca Gallery Category Layout
*Cooliris 3D Wall
oCooliris 3D Wall Layout
*User Control Panel
oPhoca Gallery User Control Panel Layout

I select one of these items (eg category list layout), press save or apply
Page is redirected to MenuManager, selection not accepted.

Any other Joomla /PG parameter could affect this?
