Public documents require login

Post by _Stormx_ »

Hello Jan,

on my website we have 2 download sections. One for non-registered users and one for registered user.
Therefore download section has the following structure.

Public: Section "Musikverein" -> Category "Formulare" -> File "Beitrittserklärung"
Section "Förderverein" -> Category "Formulare" -> File "Beitrittserklärung"

Registered: Section "Musikverein" -> Category "Konzert2010" -> File "Bilder.zip"

Section "Musikverein", "Förderverein" and "Formulare" are all public.

Inside the main menu there is an entry "Download" for all users. This entry is public. As long as I do not add an entry inside the user menu with registered access there is no problem accessing the public files. As soon as I add an entry inside the user menu with registered access and the section layout. All public files are not accessible.

The two download entries have the layout "Phoca Download Sectionlist Layout".

I use Phoca Download 1.3.7.

Is there a solution for my problem?

Thanks a lot

Hi, there are different rights in Joomla! ... for menu links and for e.g. component - by Phoca Download it can be a category.

So if you have a public category, but not public menu link, then you cannot access the files through the link, (it is not protected when somebody knows the exactly link to the file then)

So you need to check all the rights for all the parts

Hello Jan,

I think its a different problem. I update the download component and after the update it does not work anymore. The time before it worked well with my settings.

To give you an overview a drew a little picture, which can be found at Image.

Thanks for your help

Hi, then try to disable SEF and check the Itemid, you will know which link has which itemid. Menu link has and unique ID - itemid, so you will see after clicking on the link, if the itemid is not changed, if yes, then you get e.g. settings of other menu link.
