Hi Jan,

I have the same problem. Upgraded Phoca first to new version, then problems began. Even though I've updated Java also. Now I've installed the previous version of Phoca, an get the same error: Error during applet initialization! Have a look in your Java console.
I've taken a look at it and have no idea what to do there. You made phoca....don't you know what the connection between uploading pictures and Java is?? Never got a message concerning Java before and only get it while using Phoca Gallery now. It's getting a bit annoying, everytime I upgrade phoca I first have to get through a bunch of new errors . Never does it work at once and can I just upload pictures

Hi Jan,

Now I've tried a thing or two my self, which leaves me no longer with the Java problem, but now I get an error concerning a script in de phoca component while trying to create thumbnails. The error is:

The text around line 220 in magemagic.php says:

Hi, check the GD on your server, if it is up-to-date and if it includes all functions Phoca Gallery needs (see Info panel)

Where do I find the GD settings?? Sorry, but I see everywhere GD, but what does it even stand for and how are settings supposed to be?? You know...phoca used to work fine before By the way, I'm using Mac osx!

Hi, you should run phpinfo and get information from your php on your server, there should be listed the support of GD library (if it is enabled or if it includes the right functions) You can see "info" panel in Phoca Gallery, where there are listed GD functions needed to run Phoca Gallery.

Hi Jan,

If I click on info there's info about:
Enable Thumbnails creation (is actual), Pagination Th (is actual), Clean Th (is recommend), and the following are all actual:
Function get image size, image create from JPEG, from PNG and form GIF, Function image rotate, imageCreate true color, image copy reasampled, image fill, image color transparent, image color allocate, exif_read_data.

In imagemagic.php I can see "need GD library", but I can't find anywhere if I've got that. And the Java applet error is back too : Error during applet initialization! Have a look in your Java console. I upgraded it to latest version, but still get the message. And no idea what I'm supposed to look at in de console. Or should there be a specific setting in Java preferences?? But then I still don's know what to look for/change

And finally, I used to have a slideshow with phocagallery, but that doesn't seem to work either anymore. It's all very strange

I really hope you can help out here, cause it's just frustrating to work like this...because I can't work like this. And I thought of de-installing phoca and installing it all over again, but the problem is, if that doesn't work, I won't hav any pictures at all at my site. At least now I have the ones that where already there. I don't want to take that risk!

NOTE: I did by the way try to upgrade to higher version, to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't, so I installed the old version of Phoca, 2.5.8, again.

for Java applet error try to search this forum (I am not developer of it, so my advices are limited here )

for other problems, do you have enabled php error reporting and debug mode to get more information about possible problems?

Seems like php error reporting is on as you get the warnings with the jpg images. Try to change the images e.g. to png, to some small images to see if you get problems with small images which are not jpgs

Hi Jan,

I've tried png, but that doesn't work either. Then he referres to line 227 in imagemagic.php. It seems the problem is in imagemagic.php since errors keep on referring to that

I've tried turning error reporting off in Global configuration settings, but get error now after thumbs should be created and I click on images. But turning error reporting off, doesn't that just mean you don't get the report, but the error is still there? I need to get the problem fixed without changing to much in my settings, after all, I never had to do that before!

I've searched the forum for JAVA errors, but it seems that many have the problem but nobody really the solution! And turning Enable java uploader on NO, doesn't do anything either. It still referres to JAVA. Unfortunately I don't hav a clue about JAVA. But before Phoca allways seemed to work, what has changed now??? Don't you get errors like these when you test phoca or use it yourself

Hi, if there is a problem in php, you should get this problem with single file upload (if you will enable php error reporting and e.g. debug mode, you should get this error while using single upload)
