Phoca Gallery way too slow

Hello,

I've been finding this gallery is quite slow. Clicking on the thumbnails to get the full image takes quite a bit to display.

I would like to know if this is a common issue with the gallery or maybe it's a server or host issue.

Any insight on this?

Btw - I suspect it's the server/host rather than Phoca Gallery unless Phoca Gallery can't handle sites with massive amounts of images which is my case because this is a sports magazine and in any given article I could have over a thousand images. The site's images are not fully loaded yet, we are transfering from another server, but there are plenty there right now.

Hi, the site is not accessible.

Anyway, there is no important how many images you have (because the pagination is used) but how many categories you have (because all categories needs to be loaded to create category tree - so on some servers e.g. 1000 categories can slow down or stop server).

About the categories you mention, I'm not sure I understand...

The way I have it is - Each article is a category in Phoca Gallery, that is the way I understand it and using it. Right now I'm at 400 plus categories, sooo, if I hit higher numbers like in the 1,000's this might slow it down?

Hi, yes loading items from database is slowing down the server - every loading. so if you load e.g. images and you are using pagination - only e.g. 20 images are loaded. But if you are loading categories - all - e.g. 1000 items, this will take some time (and it does not matter if this are categories from Phoca Gallery or from Joomla!, etc.)

For now I see no problem on your site, the categories are loaded Ok on the site
But yes, if there are e.g. over 1000 categories, I think, then you gallery will need some customization (to e.g. not create a tree of categories - display categories with using pagination without tree - but this is common problem of items loaded in tree, not only Phoca Gallery categories tree problem )
