Help for newbie

I am trying to set up this component following the manual instructions. However in the files section of the control panel I cannot select any sections or category with the drop down menu.

Thank you, I realised that I needed to add a section and category first and then a menu link. After that it worked! It would be great if there was a really simple guide for starting for newbies - like really simple
