Permanently Delete Images (Originals!)

Post by derekjp »

Hi,

Firstly just to say, I cannot believe I have only just discovered this component! It is by far the best out there and so easy to customize!! :D

However, one slight problem which could be a bit of a pain in a years time... I can't seem to find an option to remove the images permanently which have been uploaded to phocagallery folder? When I delete the images from the admin end, they are removed in the list, within the component, but still appear in the folder and I'm having to delete via FTP... Am I missing something or is this feature not yet available?

I did search the forums and on Google for an answer to this, and the latest I have read is that this feature was being developed in October 2009. Does it exist in the latest version? Reason I need this is because the person I'm doing a site for will definitely not be capable of going into a Joomla sites directory and deleting images - NO WAY

Thanks for any help,
Derek

Sorry should have mentioned this before...you can actually just go into media manager (via admin panel) and delete the images in phocagallery folder there. Still, it would be easier and more appropriate to manage this functionality within the component's panel.

Hi, yes as wrote in some posts here in the forum. Phoca Gallery is an image gallery not file manager. Of course it can be included in Gallery but then you get duplicity with media manager or ftp or external file manager and the code of gallery will include libraries which can slow down the gallery running which will make it larger and complicate installation, etc. :-(
