Hi, I think, this needs to be customized somewhere in the code (no idea there) In phoca Guestbook the cache is disabled e.g. for displaying the the captcha image.

I have the same problem as the topic starter and your answer is not helping me any further.

The problem only shows up when a guest is writing a message. When he/she hits the submit button the message won't show up.

I disabled the overall cache from the joomla configuration in the admin to see what happened, but it doesn't make any difference. I then thought the problem was someway related to htmlpurifier (i know purifier saves cache), but disabling htmlpurifier also didn't solve the problem.

I looked in the admin at tools/delete cache and there was only one line (because I disabled joomla cache) with the title 'page'.
As soon as I deleted this line and refreshed the guestbook page, the message shows up immediately. So I am absolutely certain this problem is a cache issue.

I hope you will look into this.

Thanks in advance.

It took me a whole day to find out what caused this issue but I solved it!

This article brought me to the right direction: http://www.theartofjoomla.com/joomla-ca ... ained.html

It turned out that the problem is caused by page caching. This also explained why the problem only existed when a user is not logged in. Page caching only applies to guest visitors.

I simply disabled the page caching plugin (plugin management -> system-cache) and the problem was solved.

The overall cache setting in the general setting can be turned on without any problem.
