Can't Upload To Shared Access Category

I've just updated to PG 2.6.1. with joomla 1.5.15.

There are several categories that have been created which we set to allow all registered users the right to upload photos to.

When trying to upload to one of these, an error appeared "User Folder Is Not Defined". Ive verified that all registered users SHOULD have access. The Only way I could get the users photos to appear in that particular, was for that user to create his own category(s), then from the back side, make his category a child of the one he was trying to upload to in the beginning.

This CANT be the way this is supposed to work?????

Hi, if you are not loading the image from UCP but from the category, you need to set the user folder (in edit of the category) so there is a place on disc where tho upload files.

I am not entirely clear here and I'm sorry.

So let me give an example of how I hope this works

We have a car enthusiasts site. As an admin, I set up 3 gallery categories : Aston Martin, Mercedes, BMW

We would like our members to be able to freely upload to any of those galleries they wish.


So are you saying that a user has to first set up their own gallery, then our administrators have to go on the backside of the site and make that users gallery a child of ONE of those 3 shared sitewide gallery categories.

Is this how the system is designed?

Hello,
I'm having the same problem. I want to create admin defined categories for my users to upload images to, however it seems their only option is for them to create their own categories/subcategories. Currently the logged in user only see's the category in which they are the "owner". I followed the above link however users still cannot see the categories I set up for them to upload to. Please help, thanks.

As suggested, I followed to the letter the instructions that is supposed to enable my users to upload images in category view but after numerous attempts I still cannot get it to work and don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please, I'm desperate and will give someone admin access to help me figure this out. Anyone?

Yes, I've check my component parameters and they appear to be correct however users still cannot see the categories I created.

In other posts I've read that this is called uploading images in category view.

Yes, did you create a menu link to e.g. categories view. If users is logged in, then he/she shold see the upload form there - after clicking on the category.

Thank you Jan, that worked! Users now can upload to predefined categories, though I had to create menu links for each category... but it works.
