I asked them and they mentioned the default folder permissions (0755) will allow scripts to read and write to the folder.

Further testing information:
Per suggesting from my web-host and by reading some forums, I decided to place php.ini files in my main and some sub-directories in hopes that the maximum upload size would be increased (if you recall, for whatever reason my maximum upload limit reported by phoca download is 195.31 kB). After placing php.ini in my main directory, in phoca download's component directories, and in phoca download's download directory, the file limit remains unchanged and I still can't upload files.

I've also tried removing all sections and categories, then re-establishing them with different names. This was not successful in resolving the error. However, for whatever reason, there are two instances of one of my sections shown on the front-end. Would there be any particular reason for this anomaly?

Another question. Does phoca download have an option to use FTP for file uploading? I'm trying to set this up to allow uploads upward of 60MB. From what I've read, this places severe loads on the processor if PHP handles the upload as opposed to FTP. If FTP is an option with phoca download, how would I go about enabling it? If it's not an option, do you know of any extensions for joomla which would give front-end users FTP uploading features?

Hi,

No
Does phoca download have an option to use FTP for file uploading?
Yes, Phoca Download uses the Joomla! frameworks methods to access files and folders and work with FTP layer.
