Behavior when uploading pictures in 2.6.1

I've uploaded some pictures after upgrading to 2.6.1 using Multiple Add. After selecting the pictures uploaded via FTP or via the Java client and selecting the desired category I set the option that the pictures are not published yet, then pressed the Save button.
Now the pictures were added, thumbnails were created - so far, so good. But why are the pictures automatically authorized? Ok, I can imagine this is because I did the upload from the backend. But why then the pictures are immediately visible at the frontend when they are only authorized, but not yet published? I thought if the Published option is set to false the pictures should be invisible at the frontend...

So I had to un-authorize the pictures first to be able to edit titles and descriptions before I make them visible to public. Next problem: if they are unpublished and unauthorized I have no selection criteria in the backend to view only those pictures. The filter "status = unpublished" did not work for those.

Hi, there is a small bug in category view which displays not published images, this will be fixed in the next release.

Hate to hijack this topic, but was having same issue. using 2.7.3

Users uploading to a category. set to unauthorized. they dont show up in the category view, but when you click the "Detail" modal window... all uploaded "unauthorized" images show up when you scroll thru the slide show.

the images are "published" already in the back end. even though they are unauthorized.

can the uploaded images not be "published" automatically?
