Images/categories disappeared after upgrade to 2.6.1

Post by lveronese »

Hi, I have just upgraded to 2.6.1 from 2.5.x (the last of the 2.5 series).
Well, after the upgrade all the images and categories have been deleted or at least disappeared.

It never happened before and moreover many button tags are replaced with their string ID definition and not the string text.

Please, help me, what can I do ?

I can provide an admin access if needed.

Thanks

Well, some more details: the issue of the button tags is only a translation issue. I am using the italian language and the lang file is not updated.
I have pushed the authorized all button, but no images or categories come out !

Is there a way to step back i.e to downgrade the component ?

Do I really have lost all the category hierarchies ?

Unfortunately, I don't have a backup since I have done lots of phocagallery upgrades and I learnt to trust them ...

Thanks
Luciano

Hi, where were the image disappear? If in frontend, did you read the instructions for the upgrading (Important: After upgrade of Phoca Gallery version 2.5.x (and older) to 2.6.x go to Administration - Components - Phoca Gallery - Users and click on Authorize All button. Because in 2.6.x there is a new feature (authorize images), you need to make all images, which were added before this version, authorized to display them in the frontend.)

Hi Jan and thanks for the reply.
The imegas disappeared both from the backend and the frontend (of course...). I have pushed the authorize all butto, but since there were no images I gues it did nothing, so it turns out that the main problem is that both images and categories have been wiped off the backend and consequently from the frontend.
I have investigated a little bit into the phocagallery database tables and I have discovered using PhpMyAdmin that now all the tables are empty (zero records) with the only exception of the table jos_phocagallery_user_category.

Am I the only one unfortunate user to experience this behaviour?

As I mentioned, If you want I can PM you admin credentials in order to access my site and see what happened.

Otherwise I am planning to completely remove and reinstall the component hoping for a normal behaviour.

BTW, when I do a check update, it tells me that the currently available version is 2.6.0, but then it points me to 2.6.1

Bye
Luciano

Ehm ... the issue is that I do not see any category so I cannot authorize them all !

And as I wrote previously, digging into the phocagallery mysql tables, all of them have been reset, I mean there are no more records !

Did you do a update or a install. This looks like a install where you should have done a update.

I did what I did a lot of times before: I installed PhocaGallery ontop the previous version i.e I did not removed Phoca and used the normal Joomla procedure.

It worked very well, any time ... until now.

Well, I have now decided to remove anything and reinstall Phoca. It seems I have no other alternatives...

Thanks

Hi,

if you have a backup of your database from before the upgrade (I hope you do), you can insert the data back into the db-tables after the new installation and save the work on re-adding all categories, images etc.
