I am new to Phoca Download but I think I understand the basics. I had a problem earlier that limited my file upload size to 50B but that problem is solved. I now have a new problem.
I have the file size limit increased to 30MB but am still having trouble. This 30MB file size limit is displayed on the Upload page. I am unable to upload files larger than 2MB. I was able to upload one file that was 1832KB. However, when I tried to upload another file that was 2279KB the upload failed. (Actually, this was the same PowerPoint presentation with one slide added.)
When I try to upload the file I get this error message at the top of the page in a red box:
* JFile::read: Unable to open file: ''
* Warning! - Failed to move file
Underneath of this area there is a warning message:
Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: Filename cannot be empty in /home1/thesifor/public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 240
Further down the page there is another message in a light red box:
File not uploaded
File cannot be uploaded
I am hoping that someone can help me resolve this soon. Thanks.

Re: Problem Uploading File Greater than 2mb
Hi, check if you have set it in the right area (parameters in menu link to upload , global configuration, settings)
And check your settings on your server. There can be limits (download, upload, method POST limits, etc.)

Re: Problem Uploading File Greater than 2mb
I think the settings are correct. I set these using the parameters link on the Phoca download control panel.
I checked the settings in the link to the upload menu item.
Under "parameters (component)"
"User Upload Settings"
Enable user upload: use global
Maximum count: "blank"
Max size of all files "blank"
User file upload size "blank"
Enable user authorization: use global
Next to each of the "blank" items I can see the numbers for the parameter values set from the Phoca download control panel.
I did try changing the user file upload size directly in the menu link too but it did not have any effect.
I understand that you think there could be a limitation on the server itself. I am using Bluehost.com. I don't really know how to check if that is the source of the limitation.
Any more thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Problem Uploading File Greater than 2mb
The problem is solved. It took two steps.
1. Creating a php.ini file on the server.
2. editing the parameters in the php.ini file to allow large POSTS and UPLOAD FILES
Regards,
Mike

Re: Problem Uploading File Greater than 2mb
Hi,
I have the same problem. Can you please explain where the php.ini should be? In the root folder or in the component folder? Or elsewhere?
I get this message when I try to upload a 6 MB PDF:
* JFile::read: Unable to open file: ''
* Warning! - Failed to move file
* Error. Unable to upload file
thanks for a quick note.
