Hey there,
I have been trying to use phocadownload on my website for several hours now but I am having different kind of problems. It is of course a very good component and thats why I am sticking with it and want to use it on my website. First, I have been facing the famous Mime Type download problem although I had added the proper Mime Types in the setting but in vain. Secondly, Browse File button when we upload the file has been continuously disabled for me. I am clicking on it but it is not working. No file browse dialog is being opened. Perhaps I am not using a stable release. Kindly let me know how to get out of these problems. So briefly, I am facing two problems: one with Mime Type for files with .avi extension, these are video files, I have tried the same with text files, with .doc files with html files all of them are not working. Second I am facing the problem with the browse file button which is now disabled for me so I can even upload files anymore.

Hi,

1) can you upload the files (e.g. avi) (in case you switch to single upload file ... see 2) ). maybe there is some permissions problem too, check permissions of your files and folders

2) Disable the flash upload option in Settings, maybe you are using flash 10 on your PC and there are disabled some fuctions becasue of security reasons, so flash upload don't work under flash 10 plugin. This should be solved in some of the next Joomla! version.

Hey jan,
After disabling the Flash Upload option. I can upload single .avi file without problem but now the problem is with downloading that file from the front end. I can download any kind of file from frontend . I don't understand this issue. Can you tell me the exact syntax of adding Mime types in the settings and how to add .avi Mime Type. But it is not the problem with .avi only. It is the problem with all kind of files .doc, .pdf,.txt,.htm,.php. Everything. Some times it only says that problem downloading files without telling about Mime type. Kindly help me out of it.

Hi, if you can upload the avi file in Phoca Download, it means, that this mime type should be ok. How large is the file, maybe you have some restriction about the size on your serve ???

Hey Jan,
I am doing this on my local machine and there is no restriction on the size of the file. Yes, I can upload the .avi file but I can't download it because of the Mime Type problem. This problem is becoming more and more embarrassing. I am sending you the exact error message

"Error while downloading file (Mime Type not found)"

I have tried it now (the AVI) and with default Phoca Download settings without any problems ???

Hi, I didn't add any mime type here, I didn't change the default settings, as default there is: {avi=video/x-msvideo} for the avi in Phoca Download Settings.

Hey Jan,
By default there is no Mime Type for .avi in the settings so I had to add one. But as you have done it right without adding a Mime Type so I think there was no need for a Mime Type for .avi files but I am having the problem with .doc as well. There is something wrong on my machine which you can guess. I can't download my .doc files as well. But this time error message is

"Error while downloading file".

I believe there is something wrong with my phoca installation or settings. Can you guess what It might be?

Is there some documentation for phoca download about how to upload a file? It will be of great help. Secondly, I have a suggestion if you can upload some utube videos for phoca download it will be great help for people new to phoca download. Kindly give me some documentation link which tells in detail about how to upload a file to phoca download and other related things.
