Use of Feed XML

Post by Robx61 »

Good morning. I am writing to submit a question that is not at all clear on the use of feedXML. Through some examples it is possible to recall some items of the product sheets and make these data available to search engines, which generally refer to generic data such as ID, price, product title, etc. etc. What is not at all clear is how you can pass data on the Attributes of products that include variables that can change size, price etc. etc.
The last thing I can't understand is how to distinguish between Physical products and ready-to-download digital products, such as software, music, photos, videos ... :x :x :x :x :x

a sincere thanks to those who can help me ...

Hi,
how to distinguish between Physical products and ready-to-download digital products
Where exactly do you want to distinguish between them?

Variables:
It depends on specific XML feed service. In XML edit you can define which tags will display the variables of the products:

Where exactly do you want to distinguish between them?

... well in the feedXML for each single product ... Ex: product id 1 is a TShirt and product id 2 is a file to download ...

Mostly this depends on used Feed XML service.
e.g. you can install Google Merchat plugin into Phoca Cart, then you will have in feed options in product edit the option to set product type:

and there you can set type of the product.

Such will be rendered under tag which you will set in XML Feed options:

Thanks Jan you are always precious and punctual.

There is one more thing I have to ask: I have set up a whole new feedXML with the suggestions you gave me and everything works beautifully. But ... the summary page that shows the data read from the feedXML does not return all the products ... it skips some IDs ... ex: id 37 -> id 39 -> id 42 ... id 38, id 40, id 41 are not taken into consideration even though they contain the same type of data ... what happens? it's normal?

Sorry Jan I reached the solution by myself.

I understand that the order of appearance depends on the Feed options concerning categories and products. So I set it up so that the XML feed returns the most recently added products first, which makes sense of the method itself. 8) 8)

Thank you and good day.
