Only Show Direct Subcategories from Menu

I have a menu item to the root of the category structure. That link shows all subcategories ignoring the category structure. I want the menu item to only show the direct descendants. So if there are three categories under the root there should be three tiles displayed on the page. For example, if I have three categories, Cars, Houses and Instrument, only those tiles display. Currently all the subcategories display.

- Cars
- - Ford
- - Chevy
- Houses
- - Tutor
- - Ranch
- Instruments
- - French Horn
- - Trumpet
- - Trombone


How do I make that happen?

Hi, for now, there is no such option. As menu links are not part of the gallery, I think, this needs to be somehow customized directly in the menu link feature of Joomla.
