Mime-type for .wma

Post by effkay »

Hi.

I'm having a problems getting phoca download to work correctly when I have .wma-files on my domain. At first, when the mime-type wasn't added in the backend phoca download settings, I got the error "Unknown MIME-type", or something to that effect. I did a quick search and found the .wma mime type to be "audio/x-ms-wma". I then added the following line of code into the "Allowed File Types"-section:

{wma=audio/x-ms-wma}

The only thing that happened was that the error-message doesn't display, and the download still doesn't start. Anyone know what I need to do?

I'm using Joomla 1.5.9 and the latest version of Phoca download.

the mime audio/x-ms-wma should be ok, did you try it with different browsers? Did you try different sizes of wma (to know if this is not caused by e.g. the size of the file)?

Bah, this is what happens when you are too stressed out and/or lazy to thoroughly explore the problem.

I dont know what causes it, but it seems that google's browser Chrome handles .wma downloads through Phoca poorly. After adding the mime type in the backend AND emptying cache + refresh, Chrome's download-dialog asks if I want to save filename.wma.asx. I can save the file, but i have to manually remove the file-suffix .asx from the file to make it work.

However, this is not an issue in Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer (7.0) and Safari for Windows.

Thx for your help :|

Edit: Oh yeah. Filesize had as far as I could see no bearing on this, btw.
