sef for categories

Post by webrp »

If I have a root category named "root" and a sub-category named "sub-category" on my phoca gallery, I will have 2 different url´s:
From gallery navigattion (Inside component):
http://www.domain.com/root/category/00-sub-category

From menu item (if I create one):
http://www.domain.com/sub-category

This is causing some problems because I would liike to keed and use both methods (component navigation and menu item).

Is there some way to avoid this 2 different urls and have only one?

Hi, no... Joomla! works this way. Every menu link has own Itemid and this Itemid creates links. The problem is, there are links in content, in modules, in plugins but they don't have any itemid ... but itemid is needed for SEF, so what to do... In Phoca Gallery I have used a small hack... Links build in content or in module or in plugin try to find the main link to gallery (phoca gallery categories), if they don't find it, they try to find some other link (e.g. to category) and then they will use this itemid to build SEO link ...So problem can be if someone will create more then one link to gallery and will use SEF, then there is no chance to got right links... because there are correctly links which work without SEF but if SEF is enabled, there are two or more different links to gallery and the small hack cannot recognize which link it should use...

But if you have only one link, e.g. to Phoca Gallery Categories, then there is something wrong, because only one itemid should be used

If I create menu of type "Phoca Gallery Category List Layout" and several menus of type "Phoca Gallery Category Layout"
Would I have the same links when I click on menu items or in the component photos?

For example in the component I have a category linking to
http://mydomain.com/en/parent/category/4-categoryname

And the same category, when linked from the menu is:
http://mydomain.com/en/parent/categoryname

So I think this is not working..

-----------------------------------------------
The major problem for me is that I want to have some modules activated on some categories, but not in others.

Another issue not working well, maybe or not the same problem, is this one:

I have a menu item of type "Phoca Gallery Category Layout" from where I start navigating in categories/photos.
this has the url "www.mydomain.com" (yes its my homepage)

When I click on the back button, the green arrow, and come back to where I beggined, I dont have "www.mydomain.com" but an ugly "http://mydomain.com/pt/root-category-name/category/14-"

14 is the number of my root category on phoca_gallery. So I think I am having 2 problems:

1-the complete url should be http://www.mydomain.com because thats the frontpage, and not that long url. This only happens after I enter a category and then click back on green arrow.

2-But if its showing this strange url, it sould have after the "14-" the name of the category. (the name of the category exists in phoca component, in original, 1st language and 2nd language - I use joomfish)

Well, but its working!

But clicking on backbutton doesn't mean you go to root of your site but that you go to categories view...

"14-" ... this is a bug which will be fixed in stable version ... but this doesn't have any influence on the link because only ids are taken from the link...

HI,

you a have a new beta version, and I would like to know if this bug is solved, and if I can make it work on 210 stable version.
