Gallery showing blank images

Post by Urmas »

As the title says, gallery not displaying images, thumb generation also fails, something about GD library. Akeeba permision fix has been tried.

Cant find a solution, maybe someone can take a look?

Hi,

did you enable thumbnails creation?
Enable Thumbnails Generation (Yes | No) Enable or disable Thumbnails Generation (Automatically thumbnails generation can be disabled e.g. in case some errors occur while thumbnails generating)

The error text was "Image is damaged or GD library cannot create thumbnail from this image"

Tried to recreate the error, by making a test gallery, but to no avail. During the test i have a tooltip on the upper page part with a red circle and a cross inside next to Thumbnail creation status, which means no thumbnails are being created. The test gallery is on the page atm.

edit: i also just found a page (Info) that seems to list the default settings for the module, and there are some things that are turned off but i think should be turned on, check the image below:

How to turn these parameters on? I havent turned these off, nor i can find a way to enable them.

Hi,

a) it seems, that are problems with GD library. You are using: PHP 5.5. So, try to upgrade PHP version at least to: 5.6 or 7.X. Ask your hoster.

b) Check also permissions: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/38-tools/ ... nd-folders

c) Creation of thumbnails: components > pg > Options > Thumbnails > Enable Thumbnails Generation > Yes

Kind regards, Christine

Hello, i am the hoster, though im a beginner.

a) the GD library is not included in PHP by default, you should mention this. Found out after installed 7.0.19 and ran out of all other options.

b) permissions are set to 755, the owner is the user i created for the ftp server (1001), the group is www-data (33).

c) now i am stopped by this error:

http://imgur.com/OacCWsq

and this is how the image folder looks like

Also, another thought - ditch the thumbnails...why are the images not showing when the viewing window is opened? If they arent accessible, it shouldnt be possible to download them but it is.

Hi,

a) see: https://phoca.cz/phocagallery - it is mentioned there that GD library is needed (I thought, GD as a part of PHP is a standard - I worked on more than thousand servers and never found a PHP server without GD, so never thought, it is not a part of PHP as standard  )

b) permissions and ownership must be solved on the server or in Joomla! configuration (e.g. setting of FTP layer or not). Phoca Gallery itself does not write or read files, it asks Joomla! methods JFolder and JFile which works based on Joomla! configuration settings

c) errors: JFolder method of Joomla! does not have rights (permissions or ownership) to create folder on the server

When image is not displayed (thumbnail), this does not mean that original is not accessible (Original is always accessible through direct link if not protected by server or another method). Not displaying of thumbnail because of permissions or ownership problems (e.g. it does not exist) does not have any influence to the rights to see the image - Rights -> Access rights are aligned to image item completely (thumbnail, name, other information, ...)

See:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca- ... ntegration (the redbox here to see the information about original images - in case such need to be protected)
