different image sizes

Hello all
I am, just like many others, fighting with the wrong size of thumbnails.
I have read the documentation and several forum topics.
Now I think I found (a part of ) the failure cause.
In Media the uploaded images are landscape and have the right size.
In Phoca Gallery > Images the image size is square and so they have the wrong size.
How is that possible?
I always got square thumbnails and changed so many things, that in this moment
all thumbnails are white, even after pushing the delete and create new thumbnail button.

Hi, did you set the right sizes for your thumbnails before thumbnails creating? it depends on the settings which size (width and height) will the thumbnail have:

1) square:

I think I did.
At least I made the settings which Carolien metioned here in the forum.
I deleted the thumbnails.
And than I saw that the "original" photo's were square already.

I wil remove Phoca gallery and all photo's in Media.
I will re-install Phoca Gallery again.
The first thing I will do is setting the right size for the thumbnails if I could find the place where to do it ???
So please advice.
Which line in parameter (component) settings is the size for thumbnails.?

hi, sometimes uninstalling and installing Phoca Gallery will not help, because menu links are still the same and menu links parameters override component paramters...

large, medium, and small image height and width are the paramters which should be changed.

I started all over again.
medium, and small image height and width are changed to 400x300 and 150x100
I changed the lines which Carolien advised in item &9162.
Uploaded the pictures via media
Went to Phoca > gallery thumbnails were made automatically and ....

Surprise ... once more I get unwanted square thumbnails. Grrrrr

What do I do wrong?

did you changed the sizes in front end too (in parameters component in menu link to gallery)?

I only did it there : in menu parameters component
I followed all steps of your Phoca Gallery document.
At the bottom I changed filled in medium and small image sizes
And I set crop thumbnails off.

Must I set the sizes on another place too?. Double work?

Somewhere in this Forum I saw also this line:
Change the parameters in: components >> phocagallery >> gallery >> parameters
If gallery is the same as category then I have a problem.
In components >> phocagallery >> category >> parameters parameters is not available.

First, the parameters should be changed in Component (components >> phocagallery e.g. CP - it is for all (gallery, cp, category) the same parameters...

Then images should be created...

if you will create a link to gallery and leave the image size text fields empty then the values from Parameters (global configuration in Phoca Gallery) will be used. I you have there some e.g. previous value (some obsolete) these need to be removed or changed to the same parameters...

Parameters - Global Configuration in Phoca Gallery - important for thumbnails creating
Parameters - Parameters Component in menu link to Phoca Gallery - important for displaying the thumbnails in frontend (if they will be empty, values from Global Configuration will be taken)

It seems that I am 'blind'' , but in
Components >> Phoca Gallery >> Catogory [edit} there is no place visible where I can change settings.
Only Geotagging which I do not want to use.
