Names for pics

Post by radik10 »

Hi, thanks for nice work on Phoca! i like it. but still i'm missing some things...
e.g. - during "multiple add" it'll be very nice to use "category name" as a name for every picture (or define new names for every picture before thums and pics creation proces). now if i wont to use names for pisc, i have to define names for every picture..... and sometimes it take a lot of work...
what do you think?

??? I don't understand, the names are taken from image file names, you can rename the files easily e.g. in Total commander (multiple renaming) and then upload them into the server ...

yes, that's right, but in folder structure you cannot have diacritical marks (as is in CZ a SK languages), and phoca use those names (of pics) as a names for pics in detail view. problem is when you wont to take correct slovak (czech) word or different name for pics.
E.g.:
picture name is "kolac.jpg" and during sideshow you wont to show correct slovak name "koláč" as a name for picture in "Detail View" with e.g. shadowbox, or if you wonna to define another name for all pics before thumb creation... from same category who are (names) not depending on files names.
is it more clear? thanks

Yes, the problem is, multiple add helps you to add the names of images without any action, but if you want to add some custom names - titles, you need to edit every filename separately, e.g. multiple add set the name of the image to kolac.jpg and you can edit the title of this name in editing image to e.g. Koláč. It is theoretically possilbe to convert you file Koláč.jpg to Koláč but this need to be custom done because a lot of servers has problems with diacritics, with spaces, and... so as default no diacritics are used in multiple add for saving filenames and titles into database ... Titles work with UTF-8 and can contain national characters...
