Guestbook won't install in Joomla 1.5

Post by Arco »

I tried installing Phoca guestbook in Joomla 1.5.7. I selected the zip file and clicked the "Upload file and install" button (worked for every other component so far), the system is busy for a couple of seconds. After that I get a completely blank screen (so the admin page in Joomla is blank now). The component was not installed, no tables were created, but...if I check with my FTP program, the folder "com_phocaguestbook" does exist in the "components" folder and it is not empty. Apparently everything is available except the tables and the component itself in the Joomla backend. What goes wrong here?

Hi, try to reinstall it (uninstall and reinstall) ... Phoca Guestbook uses standard Joomla! 1.5 installation file, so there should not be a problem ... is the FTP layer enabled on your Joomla! site ?

Thanks, Jan! Unfortunately I couldn't uninstall it, because nothing was installed (the component was not present in Joomla). The FTP layer was disabled, but that was not the problem. I figured out that the memory limit (as set in the php.ini file) was set to 8 Mb by the provider. I changed it to 64 Mb, now Phoca Guestbook installs smoothly.
