Hello all,
I wonder if I can translate the content of components like (Phocagallery, Phocadownloads) with the feature of joomla3.1 that associate each category, photo or file to it's translation...
the feature for core joomla components (the check box called is this translation? and choose it's relative ).
Is there a code to embedded in each component to implement that? or a XML file descrips fields like Joomfish & Falang ????
I don't wont to use multilingual extensions, i want to build it up with this joomla feature, Could it? and if not will it be implemented ?
Thanks a lot.
Best wishes,
Michael F
Hi, yes, Phoca extensions uses this feature, like in e.g. Joomla! article - you can create different articles for different languages, the same you can do with images or files in Phoca Gallery resp. in Phoca Download, etc.
Dear Jan,
I want to know how to do that...
I want to use the item association ... i mean when you are in the file view & switch the language you will redirected to it's translation(WITHOUT USING MENU ASSOSIATION IN EACH LANGUAGE FOR EACH FILE )
Please point me on it's documentation, or please advise.
Hi, then you need to read the Joomla! documenation for the language features, Phoca Gallery behaves the same way like Joomla! articles because the switching of the site to other language (and still have the same area) is managed by Joomla! language feature and its settings (in the plugin and module)
Dear Jan,
Thanks a lot for ur answer... but i still can't open the page that i can associate the files to it's translations...
However I can do association in joomla articles...
I mean this Page
Is there any option missed !!! is there any code modifications ????
I need to do that in PhocaGallery & PhocaDownloads
sorry for bringing this old question back to top but I am having the same question and do also wonder about the interaction between Joomla Multilaguage and Phoca Gallery.
I do have the following structure inside Phoca Gallery. These are the categories with the subcategories (language is set according to English / German inside one Phoca Gallery category/subcategory):
Inside the Joomla Menu I have one menu for each language where for the English version it is linked to en-Category1 and for the German one to de-Category1. The change via Joomla language selector works as expected for these menu items. But not when I went for example down from en-Category1 to en-Subcategory1 and push then the language selector to change to the German Version of this gallery. It then changes not to de-Subcategory1 but to de-Category2 which is the defined associated Joomla menu item. As the tab for defining the relationship between the galleries is not existent inside Phoca Gallery I am wondering how to handle the change between two related galleries.
Hope you can help me on with this.
so, the structures I posted are identical, only on the en ones the texts are on English and on the de ones the texts are the German translations. This means e.g. en-Subcategory1 = de-Subcategory1.
For Joomla articles you have the tab like shown by the screenshot eino2007. If en-Subcategory1 would be a Joomla Article I could tell on that shown tab that de-Subcategory1 would be the related German translation. Using the language selector on the homepage would then result in flawless change between both articles when changing the language.
But that is not possible inside Phoca Gallery as I am only able to state the language of a category but not which other category contains the Translation into another language. My question was now, how to realize such a behaviour Joomla core offers also inside Phoca Gallery.
I hope that you can help me on with this.
Aha, now I understand, no for now there is no such function to link two categories.
So the only one idea for now is to have one category and add there german and english images - so if english language will be active, only english images will be displayed, the same for the german images. But yes, this is a problem when the category name is specific for each language.
