I need to have videos available for my website not from youtube. (Its banned in some countries.)
I started to follow this tutorial posted here.
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... eo-gallery
But I didn't like having to insert and modify that code for each one of the images/videos.
Then I noticed this post.
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2698
And realized with a little bit of css I could insert the video on top of the displayed image in Phoca all while using the insert video button from the All Videos Plugin.
Here's the steps.
1. Install the All Videos plugin from here.
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... llery/3955
2. Create a gallery / category with your thumbnails of each video.
3. Upload the videos to the All Videos folder (http://www.yoursite.com/images/stories/videos/)
3. Find the thumbnail for the video you want to play.
4. Edit the description, click the AVR Media button and add your video.
5. The important part, then wrap the AVR code in a bit of inline css.
here is an example:
<div align="center" style="z-index: 100;bottom: 400px; width: 100%; position: relative;">{flv}MyVideoTitle{/flv}</div>
The details:
width 100% and align center are for positioning the video in the same center as the image
z-index is needed to pop the video on top of the image
position: relative to set where the video will be moved from.
bottom: 400px moves the video up and on top of the image.
So experiment a bit, but you should only need to change the bottom: 400px to something else to get your video centered.
Have fun.

This is very interesting...
Allthough I have an issue with Highslide HS and AVR that it displays a warning of disabled javascript right on the thumbnail view.
If I however insert a manual video object code copied from youtube etc... then it seems to display well

Unfortunately certain light-box choices and options don't work properly with this method. But if it works for you,

Ciao,
i have some problems with the official method suggested in phoca gallery documentation to make an flv video gallery so i have tried yours.
Now a modal box or high slide pop up i opened with my video inside but in the wrong position. Can you explain to me how can i "wrap the avr code" to correct the player position?
Please, can you help me?
Grazie

Hi Grazie,
In step 5,
The css code does these things.
And the rest are for positioning as well.
Just adjust the bottom by the amount you need the video to move, up or down.
To get an idea of the css parameters, just adjust the bottom: 400px, change it to 200 px and see the difference. Should be easy to figure out.
Its basic css if you can't figure it out, check out the CSS documentation for definitions on each property.
Good luck.
In step 5,
This is the All Video Reloaded plugin code when you insert the video.5. The important part, then wrap the AVR code in a bit of inline css.
here is an example:
<div align="center" style="z-index: 100;bottom: 400px; width: 100%; position: relative;">{flv}MyVideoTitle{/flv}</div>
You wrap that code with CSS:{flv}MyVideoTitle{/flv}
Code: Select all
<div align="center" style="z-index: 100;bottom: 400px; width: 100%; position: relative;">AVRCODE</div>Centers the div that contains the video.div align="center"
Makes sure the video is on top of the phoca gallery thumbnail.style="z-index: 100;
Bottom 400px, moves the video vertically in the lightbox window (or maybe down, its standard css)bottom: 400px; width: 100%; position: relative;
And the rest are for positioning as well.
Just adjust the bottom by the amount you need the video to move, up or down.

Kind regards,
beat

It only works with certain lightbox plugins.

You will just have to find one that works.
