Migration PhocaGallery 3.2.8 to 4.1.1

Post by phzu »

Hi all,

I have the following problem respectively I am not sure if it is the right way I am going to try it.

Following is the actual setup:
Joomla 2.5.22
Phoca Gallery 3.2.8

Now I need to switch to another server, where I have to run Joomla 3.3.2 and Phoca Gallery 4.1.1.

Following will be the new setup:
Joomla 3.3.2
Phoca Gallery 4.1.1

Is it possible to migrate the categories and pictures the following way?

1. Copy all pictures, thumbnails etc. via FTP upload to the new server
2. Install Phoca Gallery on the new server
3. Export all tables starting with "ppv2z_phocagallery" from the actual server and import them to the new database

Will there occur any problem during these steps or should it work?

Best regards,
Philip

Hi, I didn't write a migration guide for 2.5 to 3 as still didn't find time to do the migration, but the migration will be similar to this guide:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... -joomla-25

EDIT:
See migration guide (2.5 to 3):
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... o-joomla-3

Hi Jan,

the way I described above is okay.
You don't even need to proceed these SQL commands changing the language.

Just install Phoca Gallery, upload pictures via FTP and import the tables as described into the database.
Then it is running again.

Best regards,
Philip

I also used this method and it worked (in the sense that I have all of my albums and photos now), but I still had to reset the menu items, that where inactive saying that the component com_phocagallery wasn't found, and to re do from scratch all of the settings and appearance, that was back to default.
