Install Error

Hello,
I have just created a new Joomla 3.1.5 site using a quickstart of Gavicks Gavern, original download from Gavick site, then installed the V4.0.2 of photogallery.
After installation, Joomla returns error 500 Default layout not found.

Also displayed is:
Message
Phoca Gallery updated (Version: 4.0.2)

Folder images/phocagallery/ exists!
Folder images/phocagallery/avatars/ exists!

None of the components menu items can be accessed.

Any ideas?
