Thumb Nail Creation very slow

I just upgraded to 3.0.2 on Joomla 1.7 from 2.x on Joomla 1.5 the thumbnail creation process is running horribly slow server cpu usage is 3% and no cap is in place. We have 8 cores and 16 gb of memory. Any suggestions on where to look first?

Hi, there were no changes regarding thumbnails creating, try to check the info panel, if all recommended settings are set as default - if you have a lot of images, maybe you will need to enable pagination thubmnail creation.
