Folders and sub-folders

Post by Sonictech »

I am trying to set up my site where I can have a main category folder that has separate sub-categories that hold the images.
example:
1. Scenery - Main Category folder. No images, just folders. Would like to have a image for the category folder icon only.
A. Landscape - Sub- Category Folder that contains images. Would also like the folder icon to have a image.
B. Ocean - Sub- Category Folder that contains images. Would also like the folder icon to have a image.
C. Clouds - Sub- Category Folder that contains images. Would also like the folder icon to have a image.

2. Vehicles - Main Category
A. Cars - Sub-Category
B. Trucks - Sub-Category
C. Motorcycle - Sub Category

....and so forth....

I only want the main category showing up on the first page, then you click the category image to see the sub categories. Is this possible and if so, how?

Thanks,
Sonictech

OK, I figured out the category and sub-category so that the sub-category don't show unless you are in the main category first. I still have an issue with the main category folder image. Right now I have images in the sub-category only the issue is the main category is showing a image on it's folder from the sub-category images. I want to have the folder image be a general image, is there a way to do that?

Thanks,

Sorry, I don't know. (Perhaps there is a way to use the Avatar to manage this, but I'm not sure...)

Ok, I have looked under the category folder where you can edit the category but I do not see where or how to set the avatar to the folder. I looked under the "Option" tab in the control panel and have that set right but where can you set or choose the avatar for that folder?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I found a better way.
backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Phoca Gallery Control Panel --> Options --> Phoca Gallery Options --> Display--> Categories View Settings -->
Displaying Style=Categories and images
Image Size=Medium folder icon with shadow
Save & Close

Now you see in categories view the medium folder icon for all 1.level categories.
If you don't like this icon you can create an own 64x64pix icon and place it here:
/components/com_phocagallery/assets/images/icon-folder-medium.png

If you want to see this icon for your sub-categories (2.level, 3.level....) too:
backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Phoca Gallery Control Panel --> Options --> Phoca Gallery Options --> Display--> Category View Settings -->
Display Image Instead Of Folder Icon=No
Save & Close

Now you see in categories and in category view your own icon.
Kind regards,
Benno

Didn't work....tried step by step. I uploaded the png file and it changes all the folder icons except the one that was needed. It still showed the sub-category images as the main category view.

Thanks,

I have no idea what is the reason for this behavior. In my test environment that works with the settings described. Whether images are in the Subcategories or not.
Try out the standart template beez_20 for testing.
