Error 500: Internal server error

When I try to access the pictures in PhocaGallery (in the backend), I get an error message: "Error 500: Internal Server Error". The pictures in the frontend show up nicely, no problem there.

I suspect the database has become corrupt, for what reason I do not know. Is there someway I can rebuild the tables? Or do I have to de-/reinstall PhocaGallery? Or would it simply help to upgrade (I'm currently using v2.2.4).?

Repairing and optimising tables with Admin Tools (http://www.akeebabackup.com/) and installing the latest version of PhocaGallery sorted out my problems.
