categories - subcategories

Hello here, glad that I hv found this forum here
I'm very new - My name is christine and I have (some?) question to you:

I think, the best way to explain my problem is, to show it as an 'example':

Categorie (would be the 'parent categorie): House
Sub-Categories e.g.: room1 .... room2
So, in the 'sub-categories are fotos. For Instance
Of course: for all a 'folder'.

The problem is, the view shows:

House >>room1 (5)
House >>room2 (10)

What I want is to have:
House >> room1 (5) room2 (10)
--------------------------------------------
When I made the: 'select the parent category' ..... [that means: House), I got:

House >>room1 >>room 2 (10)
-------------------------------------------

it seems to be correct, but it isn't !
Because, when someone 'klick' i.e. onto: room1:
The view shows the: room2 (with 10 fotos).

How could I manage this correctly?
Hoping, you understand my problem Because a house has more rooms (sub categories) and should be in 1 house (main categorie)

Hi,

When I made the: 'select the parent category' ..... [that means: House), I got:

House >>room1 >>room 2 (10)

This means, you made:
Categories=House (Level 1) --> emty
Sub-Category=Room 1(Level 2)
Sub-Sub-Category=Room 2(Level 3) --> included 10 images

But if I understand you right, you want this:
Categories=House (Level 1) --> emty
Sub-Category=Room 1 (Level 2) --> included 5 images
Sub-Category=Room 2 (Level 2) --> included 10 images

So, if this is what you mean, delete Room 2 (Level 3) and create Room 2 in (Level 2) once more.

Hi Benno,

Thank you a lot for your explanation and sorry about my late reply to you.
I'm not (yet) sure, if I understood it correctly

But anyway, at the moment I solved it with a friend, that we suggested to take the (main) categories only (Categorie View Setting), and after klicking on the relevant (parent) categorie (house) - the subcategories (room 1, room 2 ) are shown separately.
That means: The Configuration we set to: Display Subcategories: No ... Empty Categories: Yes.

Hope, that I could come back again? whenever other questions are coming up
