unable to view categories or sub categories (front end)

Post by keithriches »

I am unable to view categories or sub categories when in the front end administrator. I can view them all in the back end but nothing is showing in the front end. All categories have Access right, upload and add user rights and delete and publish user rights set to all registered users. I can create new categories and sub categories from the front end but i cant edit those that have been created in the back end? Can anyone help?

Hi, are you set as owner of the files. (owner of the category)? In frontend, administrator is like other frontend users, and can see images which is owner for them.

So try to check if the main category in UCP is set to your ownership. If you are owner of the main category, then subcategories should display for your in UCP (subcategories of the main category where you are set as owner)

Hi

I have manged to get this working now, is their a way of having a user as an owner of more than one category? At the moment it will only allow me to have an author as an owner of one category? i need to let some users have access to more than one category?

Hi, only one category (main) and more subcategories can be assigned to one user. But the user can get e.g. upload rigths to more categories.

HI

Could you possibly tell me how to allow a user to control more than one category? At present users are setup as authors. They can add sub categories to their assigned categories but i cant allow them access to more than one category. Would changing their user status (ie from author to administrator) change this?

Hi

I have been playing around with the image upload facility from a front end perspective and have found an error. I have managed to allow for a user to create a sub category which is authorised but when attempting to add an image into that sub category using both the java upload and single image upload im getting an alert showing.

It says:

User folder was not defined

What does this mean and how do i allow for it to be defined?

Hi, in Category edit you need to define where images will be stored. This will be automatically added, if user will create main category in frontend by himself. If you have created a main category for the user, then it must be set the folder (physically - where the files will be stored on the server)

Hi

Ok i see what youre saying, many thanks for your help. You mentioned earlier in this discussion that a user can get upload rights to more than one category? Can you tell me how this is done?
