Wow this is very strange! Put this into a google search:

"you can write some description here"

and watch what comes up in the results!

I have an idea - Can you change the "you can write some description here" on the thumbnails on this page https://www.phoca.cz/phocagallery/demo/i ... ery-nature to plain text instead of the HTML with all the colors and stuff? Then we can see if that search string works the next time that particular page gets indexed. It would be interesting to see what happens! :D

Edit:
I went to another gallery:
https://www.phoca.cz/phocagallery/demo/i ... llery-alps
and saw that you have just the descriptions on the overlib, so I took a big chunk of the plain text part of it:
"you can format the background and border color of this box too"
and plugged that into google and only one result comes up:
https://www.phoca.cz/phocagallery/demo/i ... =component

But the strange thing is that when you click on the thumbnail in the gallery, in the lightbox that pops up, it does not show the description like it does when you click on the google search result.. ???

It looks like google IS indexing the descriptions, sort of... What are your thoughts?

hmm... it is not good. The problem is, the modal box is an iframe, so google takes it as independent site... no idea how to solve it :( :( :(

Oh, so is that the reason why when I search on google, it is not pulling up the thumbnails page as opposed to the modal box? Ideally, it would be great to execute that search in google and the result that comes up is the thumbnails page itself but if that is not possible, then what it's doing now is ok because it's still getting indexed in the search engine.

Wow, it looks like the great Jan is stumped when all he can offer is a sad face. Don't worry about it, you are still an awesome programmer and your extensions are far better than others of the same type - Keep up the good work  :|

Hi Jan,
I see you have done a ton of development on your photo gallery component. Just wondering if there's any update on how search engines can index the descriptions of photos? I believe it was the overlib feature that allowed you to have the photo descriptions appear within the HTML of the category page they are on... Also, are comments available for individual photos, or just at the category level?

I understand.. And the comments? Those are for registered users only, and exist at the category level, correct?
