In the main menu you choose your phocagallery menu item and than you click on the Change type button in the Menu Item Type.
Phoca Gallery Category List Layout is Categories
and
Phoca Gallery Category Layout is Category
But still, the problem mentioned above, remains the same :/

Thanks StaleY!
Could you tell me how mto crate two columns of thumbnails, because when doin so within the compnen-parameter I always do get an error message at the frontend and I still have only a single column...
Do I have to put the number of columns into brackets? But even then there is that error message...

Hi Staley,
The problem is that you cannot choose a 'top category' in the categories view.
So you could
@ Jan: Feature request: categories view from a top category (if there are images in that category: ignore them)
The problem is that you cannot choose a 'top category' in the categories view.
So you could
- create menu-items and apply the 'hide function' (which is a lot of work)
- show only top categories in the categories view, and the subcategories in the category view - easiest (use hide subcategories function)
- create articles with the phocagallery plugin which lists the categories you want to have listed - if you have 15 categories it is still a lot of work

- Tried the second one, setting the "Display Subcategories On Each Page" to NO. Didn't work.
- Tried the third option, putting up an article with the following code ->
{phocagallery view=categories| hidecategories=38;42;39;36;35;40;34;41;33;32;31;30;29;28;27;26;25| imagecategoriessize=mediumshadow}
and the imagecategoriessize were small, also the categories I wanted to hide all appeared (actually they were the ONLY ones who appeared). Tried to delete the hidecategories, the result was identical as before - small images and all of the categories appearing...

Re: Categories page (frontend) - how many categories per page?
@ Staley
1: Go to you menu item and there is a 'hide categories setting' in the component - parameters. There enter the numbers of the categories you want to hide
2: Set the 'display subcategories' to no in the component - parameters of your menu item.
3: what happens if you remove the spaces from the code?
@ Jan
A long time ago there were also some questions if the category list layout (or categories view) wasn't possible with a parent category on top. So imagine I've got a category cars, with subcategories like Audi, Skoda, Volkswagen, BMW etc. Then I want to display my subcategories as a category list layout (categories view). So I'd like to select as menu type: categories list layout and then specify a category from where Phoca has to list all the subcategories. If there are only images then Phoca displays nothing, or if there are some subcategories and images, then Phoca only displays the subcategories.
The bold text is the feature request...
Regards, Carolien

Re: Categories page (frontend) - how many categories per page?
Ok, I have been following this because I wanted the same thing. Just the main categories to show up on the main gallery page, then have the user click on the main category of choice, and view the albums/sub categories, and so on.
I did number 2 but I ended up with nothing showing on the main gallery page. I left show subcategories set to no & Then I set "display empty categories" to yes and I got what I wanted. You can see it here:
http://paddleandtrail.net/index.php?opt ... Itemid=100
Since there are no images in the main category folder the software thinks it is an empty category.
This is my test site so it is still a little crude.
Is this layout what your talking about? I plan on redoing my thumbnails and picture sizes to give a better presentation but, since I have the view I want, that will be doable.
I would be glad to share my parameters, if this is what your looking for.
Jim

Re: Categories page (frontend) - how many categories per page?
Thanks again Carolien, I will try it in a few hours and report back!
@paddleandtrail - Yeah, that is pretty much what I'm looking for! If I won't be able to do it by myself, I would really appreciate it, if you share your parameters with me.
Thank you all, you're a great community.
