Adding my support for this feature.

It is the only fault I can find with this great package.

Might I ask if you are working on this or is it being left for more important projects?
I'm hoping to get a site up and running in the near future and am wondering if I should hold off a while for this feature. I'd love to use PG but this feature is a must for my site.

Thanks,

still waiting in a very long feature request list... as I said e.g. last month I didn't code nothing because of answering all posts and e-mail questions... so I cannot say when I will be ready to do this feature

Thanks for the quick reply.

I hope you get to this but I understand that things like this take time.

High Jan!

I've seen you did some work on this request  and I'm playing around with 2.1.0 RC. I seen that "Phoca Gallery User Control Panel Layout" offers the possibility to add categories in the registered user frontend. Fine! But I'm very confused how to use that. I only see a Dialog where I could add a category and upload pictures. This work's, but I do not see "where I am" in the categories tree or a possibility to change the category I want to work with? I'm stuck! What did you have in mind how to use that menu item?

What I thought was:

- registered users see a dialog to add categories and upload pictures
- non registered users only see the pictures
- registered users my choose the category they use and maybe add a new sub-categorie
- it would be best concerning usability, when the user is seeing his pictures and a possibility to add categories in the same dialog. Otherwise it's a little bit confusing

Maybe I just misunderstood your ideas? Thanks for your comments or suggestions!

Thanks for your reply!

Regards

where I am
:D :D .. this is the nice example that i cannot satisfy all users :D :D if some users wanted such behaviour to do, I asked why there will be 2 places where to upload images... and why to do upload behaviour if user cannot see the uploaded image ...they said, it is good if you can upload images in control panel too... so now there are two places

- first place - in category, you can upload images here and you can see them (so worked before)
- second place -control panel, where user can add or edit user's category and upload (but without possibility to see uploaded images) ...
Maybe I just misunderstood your ideas?
:D not my ideas :D

So if you are confused or you think your users will be confused with user control, just use the standard way of uploading images in the frontend... the standard way is to display upload form in every category for users who have upload rights ... and user can see the uploaded images immediately...

High Jan!

I do not have problems with the upload feature in 2 dialogs. The only thin I do not understand is how to handle or setup the following: I defined a menu section calling "Phoca Gallery User Control Panel Layout". When the user is logged in, he is only seeing the attached screen. He does not see in which base categorie the new sub-categorie will be added. The user is at least "blind" where in the categories' tree he's working. Additionally I do not find a parameter where to setup the base-categorie from where the settings of other categries will be copied.

At least I'm missing in the dialog a possibility to see where I am and as consequenz, where the new cat. will be created.

Thanks again Jan!

You are in your category Unter2. As user can have only one category (but he can have rights for many categories), in control panel you will be still in your own category...

In control panel, user can create his own category, if he does it, this place will still display only his category, his category is displayed in root of all categories, so there is only one place where user can be situated, in his category .... you can write some description for the user there... this control panel is about user's category - creating, editing, uploading (without seeing the uploaded files), so there can be e.g. information... Here you can add, eddit the name of your category, uploaded pictures you can see in "phoca gallery menu link" where user find his category...

High Jan!

ok! Got you... So  "my" feature-request is not realized... It would have been nice that allowed users in the frontend were able to add mutliple phoca categories to upload there their phots. Imagine a sport-club f.e. where you have serveral groups (football, volleyball, badminton) and each group has a volunteer (joomla publisher) feeling responsabel for content and gallerie, without needing an administrator to add a new categorie in phoca. Maybe the weekend they had an event wanting to publish those photos.. Now they need an admin to add the categorie before uploading photos
