JanIs it possible to make each one only visible to the user if he is in that group?

Let me clarify:
I now have the two different download sections, one for each group. The access to these work great, only allowing a user to see those downloads that belong to his group.
To get to these downloads, however, I need some kind of link. I have added two menu items, one for each user group. I have set their access to "registered". So only registered users can see the links once they log in. When a logged in user clicks on a link he does not have access to he sees a "you do not have access" type page.
The problem is that I want each user only to see the link for their group, not the other one. So I want to hide the link to the download section that is not accessible to a user instead of having the link click through to a "you do not have access" page.
This is my first time working with 1.6's user access, so this might be a simple thing. I just can't seem to figure it out.

Hi, the links are fully managed by Joomla! Menu Manager, so displaying it or hiding it depends on the rights set in Joomla! itself
