Hide Categories

Post by iwanttoknowstuff »

Hello dear forum users,

I recently made a small website for a small group with Joomla 3. I knew phocagallery from a different website I made and so I choosed the same gallery again. This time I got the latest version and unfortunately a lot changed.

I would like to click on Gallery on the main menu. After clicking I want to have the main galleries 2014, 2013,... on screen. Klicking one should bring you to the certain subgalleries of the year clicked.
This worked on the older versions of phocagallery, now it doesn't. How to hide catergories in a special menu. I know its possible it main settings, but I want it in all menues specific.
I don't know how to make a sorted catergory overview with the latest version.
Please help me out.
All the best

Michael :)

Hi, regarding views, there were no changes in features except CSS styling.

Regarding component parameters in menu link, see:

First of all thank you for the reply.

My Problem is that there is not the same type of menu to choose from. In the older versions of the gallery for 1.5 for example there was a menu which will show specific kategories. In the settings you could set hide and show categories. But for the version for joomla 3 I can't find anything similar.

All the best,
Michael

Hi Jan,

I really would like to follow your advises, but I don't know how.
To find a solution I try to explain the problem once again.

So after installing the gallery I made a new category and added some photos to it. After doing so I made a new menu point and chose a type of menu. And heres the first problem.
These are the options to choose from:
- Cooliris 3D wall
- List of pictures
- List of categories
- Member control panel
... I translated those as I'm from Germany and I'm using the german version. But the meaning is the same.

So as you can see, there is no type for selecting a special category or choose which categories should show up or not. I don't want to show all categories. I want to have some order showing them like in the older versions.

Please help me out :)
All the best,

Michael

Hi, "List of pictures" is the one - category view - in options of this view, you can set the category. See image:

Was on holidays :)

Thank you very much for your reply
It kinda solved my problem and I'm happy with the result but still, joomla 3 uses a different gallery as I used with 1.5

A gallery like this one (link) is not possible anymore

Hi, yes it is cca 7 years between Phoca Gallery (1.5) and Phoca Gallery (3) and the web changed a lot (e.g. now CSS3 is used as it is powerful), etc.

But in Phoca Gallery, there are legacy parameters for categories view, so you can display the categories view like on the link - see the Phoca Gallery options.
