The french translation doesn't install with Joomla 2.5

I can't install the french translation specific to Joomla 2.5 : xml initialisation file is missing.
Someone to help me !

Hi,

Some component language packs cannot be installed in Extension Manager (e.g. because they don't include XML setup file). In such case, they need to be installed manually.

See the following example (French language pack for Phoca Guestbook component), how to install language pack manually:

Download French language ZIP pack and unzip it. You should get two files:

fr-FR.com_phocaguestbook.ini
fr-FR.com_phocaguestbook.sys.ini

Copy both files into the following destination:

administrator/language/fr-FR/ folder and
language/fr-FR/ folder on your server.

If the French language is active (admin, front) on your Joomla! site, then the Phoca Guestbook component will be translated to French.
