Slow with many pics in Categorie

I have 15 Categories. Some are empty, some have a few pics en one (Marco) has 1418 pics. That one is very slow when viewing the lange pic. Viewing the thumbs works fine.

Internet Explorer will even hang or gives script errors. Any ideas?

Hi, I think you have reached the max of images per category.
When showing a large image out of that category, Phoca Gallery has to index all the images.
So that makes the category-view slow.

I don't know the exact max of images per category, but for myself I use 50 -100 images per category.
Then the speed of the website is fine.

Strange that there is a max image limit. But nevertheless...
I devided them in 3 sub categories and it works mucht better now.

Hi, there are no limits in Phoca Gallery, all depends of performance of the server, how many items it is able to load from the database without having slowing down problems.

Yes ok, but when a page with 20 pics is loaded, why would it take a long time to open one picture on that page? At that moment, the number of total pics should not have any influence. Or am I thinking wrong?

Hi, really no idea, this needs to be tested on the server with some debugging tool, on one site, all possible items are loaded (content, but modules, something from template, etc.)
