Will not Create Thumbnails

I really like this component and it used to work perfectly but not for some unknown reason, the component will not create thumbnails. Whenever I try to add an image to the gallery, I receive the error below:

Image (wrong type or broken image) - remove the image or upload new image via e.g. FTP
GD Library (not correctly working GD library, not working GD functions) - install or reinstall GD library
Permissions (no rights to write files or folders) - change the permissions of image/phocagallery folders on your server,

I deleted all folders and images and recreated everything but I get the same error. The Thumbnails do not exist but it is saying that they do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really like this component.

Hi Stephie
Just to make sure:
What are your folderrights? Is group writing enabled (664)? Otherwise there could be the problem that the ftp user is not the same as the server and therefore cannot write into the folders.

And have you checked that the GD library is working corrrectly?

And to be sure, try it with another image (or at least another name), probably that could help too.
