Creating simple gallery page with categories

Hi I am new to the software. I am using Joomla 1.6 and Phoca Gallery 3.0 RC4.

I have created 6 or 7 categories and I want to add a main menu item called 'Gallery' and for the categories to be listed with image and category name so I can click on it to see sub-folders and images. The documentation is not for the latest version and is confusin gon this. How do i do it most easily?

backend --> Menus --> e.g. Main Menu --> Menu Manager: Menu Items --> New --> Menu Manager: New Menu Item --> Select --> Phoca Gallery List Of Categories (Categories View)
Menu Title=Gallery
Save & Close

for the categories to be listed with image and category name so I can click on it to see sub-folders and images.

Backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Phoca Gallery Control Panel --> Options --> Display --> Categories View Settings -->
Displaying Style=Categories and images
Display Subcategories=No
Display Empty Categories=Yes
Save & Close
