Assign images to categorie and subcategorie

First, sorry for me english, I'm german and so it is horrible.

I want assign images to a categorie and the subcategorie of this. Must I upload the images under the categorie and further under the subcategorie? So it means, that the images are twice on the webspace. Or is there any other way?

For Phoca Gallery to display your images, they are first uploaded to your domain, and then assigned as Phoca Images and given an id (and a category, name, description, file-location, etc.). Because of this separation, a Phoca Image that displays to your end users is really just a complex sym-link, or shortcut. This means you can upload an image once, and add it to multiple categories without duplicating the image on your server. All you need to do is use the Add or Multiple Add option, select the appropriate image in the Phoca file manager, and choose the category to which you want it added.

Beware, this also means that you can add repeat images to the same category if you are not careful.

I will also note that there are German speaking board members who are extremely helpful - in case you encounter difficulties that are not as easily described.
