FTP'ed files not visible in image gallery

Hi,
I've been using phocagallery for many months now and it has been wonderful.
So far I had used the 'multiple' add feature to load photographs and it was always successful.

As it gets labourious, I tried to use the FTP method. I dowloaded Filezilla and was able to upload the snaps to
/www/images/phocagallery folders. I also tried moving the images to some other categories.

The images get transferred fine, however, the thumbnails are not created. Also, when i go to the image gallery, i dont see the files (probably because the thumbnails are not created).

I tried changing the permission of the folders to 0777 but that didnt help either.

To remove complexity with the names, i tried using simple names of files like '1.jpg' but that didnt help either.

i have tried to read a lot of documentation on phoca and google but havent found anything conclusive.
Would love if someone can help me with this.

Where?
- In image list? (were the images added to system?)
- In mulitple add, where files on the server are listed?

Both.
- When i go to Phoca Gallery -> Images, i do not see the FTP'ed image
- Also, when i go to multiple add, i do not see the ftp'ed images in the list.

So try to check your permissions and ownership if you are able to upload files on your ftp account.
