I was having problems with the Captha system witch prevented visitors to place comments in a previous version of Phocaguestbook so I upgraded to version 1.4.0.
Now whatever I try to do I get this message when surfing to the guestbook on my site :
You are not authorized to add new messages because your IP is banned.
Only registered users may add new messages, Please login now.
I get this message on different computers and when I'm logged it.
There are no IP's in the "IP Ban" field at "Parameters".
Any clue what's going on?
Thanks

Re: not authorized to add new messages because your IP is ba
Hi,
take a look at your menu link to Phoca Guestbook | --> Backend --> Menus --> "Your" Menu --> Menu Item Manager: ["your"menu] --> Your Link --> Menu Item: [ Edit ] --> Parameters (Component) --> Security Settings --> IP Ban
It`s possible that your global parameters are overwritten there.
Kind regards,
Benno

Re: not authorized to add new messages because your IP is ba
Thanks for your reply Benno.
This is not the case. Everything is on "Use global" and the IP Ban field is empty.
After updating I removed the original menu item and made a new one to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't.
I am not very new to joomla and I tried finding a solution on these forums. Aparently I am the only one having this issue. I am using the Sh404SEF component and not the latest version. This works fine on this website but I have had some problems with this component on other sites so I turned it off but it didn't make a difference.

Bummer
Yeah well, me to, I'm out of ideas. I tried everything. Also a delete and fresh install.
So there's no more guestbook on my site. To bad because it's the only one with a "latest post" module witch I made a donation for to get it.

Re: not authorized to add new messages because your IP is ba
I found it!
I did a template overwrite after I installed the previous version and forgot about that. Removing the template overwrite solved the problem.
Leaves open the fact that there is really no use being able to do a template overwrite if you have to redo it after updating.
I wonder if my initial problems with the captha system were caused by the template overwrite. The problem was that most of the time the captha system stated that the entered characters were wrong. "Most of the times" because sometimes it did work.
