phocagallery 5.1.2 no upload tab for new category in frontend

Hello,
I maintain a site with a gallery for several years now. we collect pictures from an annual event through the frontend website.
All users must be registered. So every year I create a new category, and all registered users have upload rights.

I see no differences in category between last year and this year. But this year there is no upload tab at the bottom of the category view. The first images present there where uploaded via the backend. Mystery to me.

Secondly, but maybe not important in the backend phoca compontent, menu users, I see two blank entries and I cannot create new ones, (which should not be necessary anyhow)

Can someone help me?

That has nothing to do with the problem. Only users who have created categories and uploaded images via the User Control Panel (UCP) in the frontend are listed here. But you don't seem to be using the UCP.

OK, fixed. Don't know why but the original first upload was in a sub sub category. Moved the pictures (all of them to the sub category), and voila, the tab appeared.
