Multiple add - crashes Firefox

I recently installed the Phoca gallery and was able to upload once some test pix.

From that time on my firefox crashes when i am going to multiple adds. I get an error code about 10 lines - i can´t copy and paste - can only be sent to mozilla.....
- i was able to upload some pix 1time out of about 15 attempts
- flash uploader not active
- pix uploaded and visible with media manager
- chmod rights on 777
- changed timeout in firefox as well
- using Joomla 1.5.10


anybody had the same trouble and a solution? couldn´t find anything in the forums

I also tired now as mentioned to upload a single picture. As the files are already in a folder within the phoca gallery folder i thought pice of cake. As i tried to enter the folder - crash

The java upload is disabled

The flash upload is disabled in Global settings as well

Pagination Thumbnail Creation is enabled.

what can i do?

just uploaded a single pic - then 3 crashes in a row again????

Hi,

what happens if you upload the pictures via FTP to images/phocagallery/[a folder if you want to]

and then go to the multiple add dialog and then select the images, and the category you want them added to?

Does it crash too?

What sizes are you test pictures? (the large image usually resizes to 640x480 - so if your originals are about that size there shouldn't be any problem anyway - Phoca should be able to handle bigger sizes still)

Yes it does. The pictures are all uploaded via FTP and inside the phoca folder, i also tried with the folders outside of the phoca folder.

The problem is also that in some attemts i don´t even come in the form where to upload - firfox crashes earlier.

The size of the pictures is below 500pix wide and about 350pix high - they are at max 120kb - so should be ok.

I already send a bunch of error messages to firefox/mozilla - so far no answer.

I am already a bit under pressure.....

you can't see those in the multiple add dialog right?

I work with Firefox 3.0.8 on Windows XP and don't have any problems.

If I understand you correctly then firefox crashes on the moment you want to open a folder in the multiple add dialog.
Do your folders contain spaces in their names?

Can you access those folders in the Joomla! media manager?

By now i just arrived at the multiple add dialoge 1 time. Sometimes Firefox crashes before i even arrive at the multiple add dialoge as well when i just try to add 1 pic at the time.

I tried to get on the folders that i uploaded with ftp with both types (multi/single) and when it doesn´t crash imidiately i see the folders.
The media manager shows the pix without any problem.

The folder names are without spaces and without big signs or whatsoever.

I use Firefox 3.0.8 and xp as well.

One question: I have the downloadmanager installed (Firefox addon) is there any chance that phoca gallery creates some issues with firefox add ons?

I would like to copy and paste the error message going to mozilla but i can´t (disabled).

On my other website i work with the pony gallery - Jommla.1.0.10 - some other minor issues but has no problem with firefox and any addons that i have installed.

2nd question: has phoca gallery any issues with the wwwrun Problem. I have it and i do everything via the extplorer.

Should i give it a try and upload the pics with extplorer?

Do you have the same problems with another browser, or is it only Firefox?
Can you add images via the 'add' button?
Does it only crash in Phoca Gallery, or does FF crash at more places in your Joomla installation

You can try to run Firefox in safe mode. Or you can try to disable the FF addon. I have DownThemAll installed, which doesn't give any problems

I don't know about the 'wwwrun Problem' so I can't help you on that one

If I understand your story correctly, then uploading an image isn't the problem. Getting into the multiple add dialog and adding images to a gallery is.

that´s right - i can upload the pics via ftp - no problem with that. They are in a folder with al userrights within the phoca folder
Means when i am going on single ad as well as multiple add - i don´t reach the next window/form - firefox crashes.

What i mentioned about the wwwrun Problem can´t be the reason because otherwise Joomla backend would advice me with an error message.

- I will try ie7 to confirm the problem.
- with ff neither single add nor multiple add works
- FF only crashes with Phoca Gallery, if there is trouble with other (few) components i receive an error message via joomla.
- i thought about the addons - but can´t be / because i deleted them all !!! still the same mess

The problem as i see it is that phoca gallery can´t upload the pics without crashing FF.

Ok Carolien,

Opera did the trick - it doesn´t crash when i get in the multiple add. But:

Creating of Thumbnail..........................Error

Error Creating Folder...............

????

Phoca creates a 'thumbs' folder in the folder where the images are. So you probably have to change the rights of that folder
