When you migrate a Joomla 3 site to Joomla 4, the new version 4.5.0 from Phoca Gallery will not automatically be found from your updatesite and xml.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Phoca ... nifest.xml
<element>com_phocagallery</element>
<type>component</type>
<version>4.5.0</version>
<targetplatform name="joomla" version="4.[0]"/>
There is only the 4.0 and not the 4.1 (and later). So I think it must be:
<targetplatform name="joomla" version="4.[01]"/>

I have changed it now, hopefully the format (4.[012]) will be OK (including the soon released 4.2)

Re: Updatesite xml not correct for 4.5.0 for Joomla 4.1
Thank you for updating the XML for 4.5.0 and Joomla 4.1!
It works fine, the update will now be found in Joomla 4.1.
You may also consider to put the 4.[012] information in the 4.4.3 version.
The Joomla Update control now gives that there is no information available for this version.
So people don’t know what to do …
The 4.4.3 version is fine to migrate from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4, there are no problems with this extension.
The 4.4.3 does not work in Joomla 4 (!), but in Joomla 4(.1.2) is immediately asked to upgrade to version 4.5.0.
And this version will work for Joomla 4.
I think this is easier for people to migrate to Joomla 4 with Phoca Gallery.
I have to migrate 36 amnesty.nl site with Phoca Gallery …

Hi Richard,
But you should actually uninstall the PG version of Joomla 3 before migrating.
See:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-jooml ... o-joomla-4
Christine
Not sure what that means, If you only de-activate them, not much will happen. Except that PG 4.4.3 doesn't match Joomla 4.r.deboer@amnesty.nl wrote: 30 Apr 2022, 09:08 The 4.4.3 version is fine to migrate from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4, there are no problems with this extension.

Kind regardsBE AWARE, PHOCA GALLERY JOOMLA 3 VERSION IS 4.4.x AND PHOCA GALLERY JOOMLA 4 VERSION IS 4.5.x (it is not the same like by other Phoca extensions where the version number is equal to Joomla version number, example: Phoca Cart 3 = Joomla 3, Phoca Cart 4 = Joomla 4, in case of Phoca Gallery: Phoca Gallery 4.4.x = Joomla 3, Phoca Gallery 4.5 = Joomla 4).

Hallo Christine,

I wasn’t aware of your migration page from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4.
But I did NOT uninstall the PG version of Joomla before migrating to Joomla 4.
The migration to Joomla 4 does not give any errors DURING the migration.
Only AFTER the migration you cannot use the version 4.4.3, then you get errors.
But if you immediately migrate to version 4.5.0 after the migration to Joomla 4 the Phoca Gallery will still work.
I’m not a normally user of Phoca Gallery (I am now interested in the migration process with many extensions of 60 websites to Joomla 4 …).
But I think the Phoca Gallery is still working, there are only some layout (Catergories/Themes?) issues.
So I don’t know if your export and import steps are necessary or you can just migrate from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 in this way.

Hi Richard,
I didn't also uninstall. I think only de-actived PG and also (when I remember well) no errors during the migration. BUT:
Maybe error, similar to: styles doesn't exist (or so).
hartelijke groetjes en success met jauw sites,
Christine
Weeks ago, I tried on a test space. Just took only some folders for testing purposes from Joomla 3r.deboer@amnesty.nl wrote: 30 Apr 2022, 15:38 I wasn’t aware of your migration page from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4.

Yes, it works ....... :But if you immediately migrate to version 4.5.0 after the migration to Joomla 4 the Phoca Gallery will still work.
Yes, that why it is better to de-install PG 4.4.x in Joomla 3 before Migration, because:But I think the Phoca Gallery is still working, there are only some layout (Catergories/Themes?) issues.
Yes indeed it's necessary, because:So I don’t know if your export and import steps are necessary
See the guide in previous post.Phoca Gallery: jos_phocagallery (#__phocagallery) (except jos_phocagallery_styles - there are completely new styles in Joomla 4 so old will be not compatible)
hartelijke groetjes en success met jauw sites,
Christine

Re: Updatesite xml not correct for 4.5.0 for Joomla 4.1
Hallo Christine,
Thank you for your reaction!
I’m not happy with you answer that an export and import is necessary!
I must say I it is not a friendly way for users to migrate to Joomla 4 and use your extension.
You are te first extension in this Joomla 4 migration process who ask it users to first completely uninstall his extension!
I think there are a lot of users who do not have directly access to their FTP sites or phpMyAdmin.
We do the hosting for 80 Amnesty.nl subsites with 80 locally webmasters. None of the webmasters has this access!
36 sites are using Phoca Gallary … I don’t know if I want to do 36 times this export and import process.
So maybe I would advise my webmasters not to use the Phoca Gallery anymore of just start all over with it …

Re: Updatesite xml not correct for 4.5.0 for Joomla 4.1
Hi Richard,
For clarification: If everything is on the same server (space), you don't need to export (Joomla 3) or import (Joomla 4) the files. The files: /images/phocagallery remain.
To export/import data you will need phpMyAdmin application. The procedures with the phpMyAdmin (database) have to be done.
Kind regards
Christine
