Hi,
one big issue with phocagallery for me is the automatic creation of subcategories if you check a whole folder on the multiple add page. I dont understand why a new subcategory must be created if I choose a category from the list?!
Example:
I have category "cat1" with 20 images in the folder "category1". Now I want to add 10 more images to this category AND THIS folder.
So normally I woul upload the 10 new images to the folder "category1" and then click "multiple add", select "cat1" from the dropdown, check the folder "category1" and click "save".
What I'd expect the component to do is:
Loop through the images in folder "category1" and add 10 NEW images to the category "cat1".
What really happens is:
ALL 30 images in folder "category1" are added to the new category "cat1/category1" which is automatically created.
This is frustrating! So the only way to add images to an existing category an folder is to open that folder an check each new image manually. Then select the category and click save.
I would like to decide myself if a new subcategory should be created on folder select or not. This could easily be managed by a new checkbox on the upload dialog.
regards
Nico

Re: avoid creation of subcategories on multiple upload?
Hi,
what phocagallery does: when you tick a folder it creates a category from that. So when you select a category and ticks the folder, the folder becomes a subcategory.
When you multiple added the images you probably selected all images (and not the folder). How is PhocaGallery suppose to know that those images you ticked are in this folder. You can add an image to more categories.
solution: remove the category and the images. Create a new category and images by only ticking the folder and press save. When you add new pics later and you tick the folder again (and press save) it'll only add the new images.
Cheers,
Carolien

Re: avoid creation of subcategories on multiple upload?
Hi,
Thank you very much for you answer! So the trick is, to create the category initially from the folder and not manually and to select NO category but to tick the folder again when you added images to that folder!
Now I've to keep that in mind if I'll create new categories
Thanks!
Nico
