Too many confusing ads at phoca.cz website

Post by mattsson »

Hello Phoca providers of useful Joomla plugins,

I used to use your Phoca gallery at some Joomla websites as I recall, could have been DECADES ago now. Now for Joomla 5 I'm using your Phoca Site plugin to set my Google Analytics tracking code to a custom snippet that lets me track the TWO Google tags my social media expert wants me to use. Thank you for providing that simple and useful plugin!

I'm writing because a year later, visiting your website phoca.cz today there are so many ads that it looks like a hacker has taken over.

I see you've released version 6.0.0 of Phoca Site plugin and I went to phoca.cz to look up the plugin's changelog before I update my website. Oh my! Phoca.cz is WAY TOO FULL OF ADS! It's very difficult to find my way around the website, because so many ads are about things any web developer would want to do. Especially annoying is the Microsoft ad at the bottom of every page. Oh here's some other thing to not accidentally step on, "WordPress." On the right a big blue button reads "Apply Codes" -- it's for Capital One Shopping codes, I guess. Further down there's a section lightly marked Ads. All this on just this ONE page: https://www.phoca.cz/extensions/joomla-plugins. I could not find a changelog, but I did find a blog post that says Phoca Site 6.0.0 will work with Joomla 6.

Even the forum password reset page, has a big "ACTIVATE ACCOUNT" panel above, and below the smaller password reset form. All that space taken up to confuse me, instead of adding an eye link to the password fields so that I can see what I'm resetting my password to.

I am imagining that Phoca needs more income, but if I find a better Google Analytics plugin for Joomla you will probably lose me. (And to be honest, since you provide your wonderful Phoca Site plugin for free, I know I'm not helping with your income situation, but I did write you a five star review about Phoca Site last March.)

Sincerely,
Carol Mattsson (aka Squeaky Dino)
Web developer using Joomla since about 2006.
