how to use Phoca Gallery watermark?

Greetings,

I have read the documents about making watermark pic for my gallery but it wont show for some reason and if you can help me with the steps of making it, this is what i did:

1- i have created an image with 2 sizes and names one is watermakr-large.png and the other watermakr-medium.png and have placed them in /images/phocagallery/xxxx
2- i went to my menu manager and enabled water mark as { yes (folder) } also put the x and y

when i didn't see the watermarks i moved the pics from /images/phocagallery/xxxx to /images/phocagallery/xxxx/thumbs still no results

what did i miss ?

Hi, watermarks are created only on thumbnails.

Hello Jan,

do you think it would be possible to add watermarks also to the images itself?
That would be a great feature, because some customers want to have it - and I would like to see that too (there are too many thieves out there!)

If you think on it, i would pay for this feature because at the moment i have not enough time to do it by myself.

Hi, this is a problem because of possible reasons:

- information of original image is not added into database, so Phoca Gallery doesn't have needed information about the image
- it can be uploaded by many ways
- it can be an external image
- working with large images (original images mostly) can cause a lot of problem in GD library (time or memory issue)

I already know those problems - made an extension long ago (under Mambo) which handled with image manipulations.

Every image manipulation need/consume time.
Even if we are living now in a time wher every sh... image must be published, stealing images is the same since the beginning of the net.

What if:
* image is on same server
* building gallery image (pop.up in any way) fetches the full image
* adding watermark before image output

As i did it once, doing this 'on-the-fly' will kep workload minimal.
As a check IF an image is over xyz kb no watermark generation is done.

Then, if some decides to upload, well go ahead but only WITH watermark.

Adding the "on the fly" feature is not possible as the component is used by many users with different server settings and different environment. E.g. creating a watermark on-line on original image can cause slow down the server in case, more users will be online and in the same time GD will work on different large images For now some servers have problems with creating thumbnal 640x480px from large image, what can happen if GD will work on e.g. 5 large images at the time ?
