I created two categories via the backend admin. When I log into the front end as a "registered user" I can't upload to those two categories... only to the one category I'm allowed to create on the front end...
My two back end created categories are set to "public" and "registered users"
If I set the author to my user account it gets removed from the other category.
How do I allow everyone to upload to categories that are created on the backend?
users can't upload to categories created on the backend

Re: users can't upload to categories created on the backend
I followed that before I posted
* Access Level - public
* Access User rights - registered user
* Upload and Add User Rights - registered user
* Delete and Publish User Rights - Administrator
Still, when I log in as a user on the front end and go to the user control panel (upload page) I get two tabs... "create Category" and "Upload". The upload page says "There is no category where to upload images. First create a category please"
I don't see where the existing categories are?

Hi,
you need to have a normal link to the category. There you need to enable the user control panel.
So it's not in that specific upload menu item.

Re: users can't upload to categories created on the backend
Have you solved this problem?
I do not understand the 'normal link to the category'.
I am sure I followed the documentation I have set up a menu item "Phoca Gallery User Control Panel Layout" in my user menu.
I have, like you set permissions on a couple of categories to Registerd users. I have not yet tried to create a category as a registered user but did expect to see the categories I have set for Registerd users to appear but there is just that message: There is no category where to upload images
Surely, all categories set for registered users should show up here.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me how you solved this problem.
Thanks

Re: users can't upload to categories created on the backend
Ok now I get it.
For the benefit of others in this forum, it appears that the menu type "Phoca Gallery User Control Panel Layout" is only for the creation of a category for that user and presumably uploading images to that particular category only.
To upload images to a category created in the back end and given the appropriate user rights (registered users) you select the menu type of either Phoca Gallery Category Layout or Phoca Gallery Category List Layout.
In the Category Layout you select the appropriate single category, then as long as you have enabled the Input Form either in Global Settings or for this particular menu item then the input form will appear when this menu option is selected. Obviously the access level would be set at Registered Users.
If you have a number of categories you are making available to registered users to upload to then you can select the Category List Layout menu type. Only those categories that have registered user rights to upload to will reveal the input form when selected from the list. To neaten things up, set as hidden all those categories that registered users are unable to upload to, entering the category id's (separated by ";"). You would have to keep a check on this as more categories are created you would need to add them to the list if they are not to be uploaded to by registered users. The option to Display Unaccessible Categories yes or no doesn't help because this only considers the Access Level setting which will usually be Public.
I hope this helps users of this forum and of this great component.

Re: users can't upload to categories created on the backend
I had the same problem and for the solution was simple. Besides of making the use owner of the category, I had to give Create, Upload and Delete rights on the user control panel. If you also give access rights to specific user then only this person can see the category. If you leave access rights empty then everyone can see it.
